PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the unpleasant feeling felt by a patient due to a step section when a piercing needle guide etc. is fitted to the main body of an ultrasonic probe. SOLUTION: Corner sections are eliminated from an ultrasonic probe by smoothly covering the step section between the main body 101 of the ultrasonic probe fitted with a piercing guide 102 and the piercing guide 102 by putting a protectively cap 1 having a smooth outer peripheral surface on the main body 101. Since the corner sections can be eliminated by smoothly covering the step section with the protective cap 1, the main body 101 of the ultrasonic probe can be inserted smoothly into the body of the patient and the unpleasant feeling felt by the patient can be reduced.
