The invention provides a paper core or tube comprising one or more plies of paper or paperboard bonded together with an adhesive that has been preapplied to the paperboard plies prior to tube/core formation. Useful reactivatable adhesives include but are not limited to hot melt adhesives and waterborne adhesives.
