PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible for a user to easily correct defocusing caused when switching from an AF mode to an MF mode, as for an AF/MF type zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens is constituted of a 1st group for manual focusing, a power varying group and a relay lens group in this order from an object side. An AF focus lens group is arranged in the relay group. In the case of switching from the AF mode to the MF mode, the power varying group is driven toward a telephoto end, linked with the automatic return of the AF focus lens group.
