PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet device that can carry out cleaning by saving a liquid in the cleaning by a simple structure, and surely sucking the liquid drops from a non-selected liquid container except a selected liquid container in a plurality of liquid containers by opening an atmospheric vent port of the non-selected liquid container. SOLUTION: This liquid jet device comprises a plurality of ink cartridges 11, 12, 13, 14 as embodiments of the liquid containers having atmospheric vent ports 71, 72, 73, 74, and closing members 81, 82, 83, 84 capable of opening or closing the atmospheric vent ports 71, 72, 73, 74, and an atmospheric vent port closing operation means 200 that operates the closing members of the selected ink cartridges of the plurality of the ink cartridges 11, 12, 13, 14 to close the atmospheric vent ports by the closing members and allows an ink drop as an example of the liquid drop to be sucked from the non-selected ink cartridge by making the atmospheric vent port of the non-selected cartridge to be opened.
