SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OUTPUTTING IMAGES

An image output system wherein at least three devices are server-client-connected via general-purpose interfaces and wherein data are transferred among these devices to output images. A DSC acts as a client of a storage device and that of a printer. A list request for an image file stored in the storage device is transmitted from the DSC to the storage device. In accordance with the list request, the list data of the image file with the list request identification (ID) added thereto is transmitted to the DSC. Then, if the printer is instructed by the DSC to perform a printing, the storage device is requested for the image data of an image as instructed together with the identification (ID), whereby the image data is acquired from the storage device, which is a client, to output the image.
