A junction box to seal the contents from the effects of dust and moisture while providing convenient access inside the box. In the invention provides a connection system for communication media that includes: (a) a housing (1) defining an internal cavity and an opening (7) to allow access; (b) one or more apertures (6) extending through the housing (1) to the cavity, each aperture (6) adapted to receive communications media; (c) one or more connectors mounted within the cavity adapted to interconnect the communications media extending through the aperture(s) (6); and (d) a cover (10) adapted to cooperate with the housing (1) to define an air reservoir (1 5) containing at least a portion of the housing including the opening (7), the reservoir (15) and the housing (1) cooperating to prevent fluid entering the cavity. Also provided is an apparatus for conveniently raising and lowering the junction box in and out of a below ground cavity.
