<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve charging and discharging cycle characteristic in a lithium secondary battery provided with a negative electrode substance of a thin film consisting of material alloyed with lithium and deposited on a collector. <P>SOLUTION: In the lithium secondary battery, a positive electrode 1 containing positive electrode active substance 1a, a negative electrode 3 containing negative electrode active substance 3a, and non-aqueous electrolyte are provided. Negative electrode active substance consisting of material alloyed with lithium is provided in a thin film state formed deposited on the collector 3b, the thin film is separated into columnar state by slits formed in the thickness direction, and a bottom of the column is adhered to the collector 3b.
