PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll which has excellent temperature uniformity in the axial direction of the roll and can stably display a function of a heat pipe without diffusing hydrogen for long term, and its producing method. SOLUTION: In the roll including the heat pipe in the inner part of a roll shell, a hydrogen diffusion-preventive coating layer is provided on the outer periphery of the heat pipe. Particularly, it is desirable to provide a metal-coating layer aiming the joining with the shell basic material on the outer periphery of the heat pipe and the prevention to the peeling of the hydrogen diffusion-preventive coating layer, and to provide the hydrogen diffusion-preventive coating layer in the inner part of the metal coating layer.
