<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aromatic carboxylic acid useful as a raw material for highly heat-resistant and high-modulus condensed polymers and its acid chloride derivative. <P>SOLUTION: The method for synthesizing the aromatic carboxylic acid represented by formula (5) comprises reacting a compound represented by formula (1) with a compound represented by formula (2) to synthesize a compound represented by formula (3), carrying out dealkylation reaction of the compound represented by formula (3) in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide to produce a compound represented by formula (4) and further carrying out acidifying treatment of the compound represented by formula (4), with the proviso that X is a hydrogen, an alkyl group or an aromatic group; Y is an eliminable group; R is an alkyl group; X<SB>1</SB>is a protective group including an alkyl group, an aromatic group or a trimethylsilyl group, a triisopropylsilyl group or a hydroxypropyl group; M is an alkali metal, in these formulas (1) to (5). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
