PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for regenerating synthetic mullite sand with which in the case of regenerating the synthetic mullite sand by using as molding sand from the mold obtained by using this mullite sand as the molding sand and water-soluble alkali resol resin as binder and hardening this binder with organic ester compound, a problem of composition-change of the molding sand caused by repeated regenerating treatment is scarcely needed to consider and grinding treatment causing to the lowering of yield and the developing of dust is unnecessary at all, and fluidity at the mixing is improved and excellent mold strength is realized. SOLUTION: After obtaining recovered sand by crushing the mold, the synthetic mullite sand used as the molding sand is regenerated by applying a heat treatment at 730-1300°C till becoming≤20 ml/50g acid consumption to such recovering sand.
