The invention relates to a corner guard (1) for box-type transport containers (4) like cases, transport boxes and the similar. The inventive corner guard (1) comprises a cap-shaped corner protection element (8) fixable to the container corner (2) in order to externally protect said corner. At least one intermediate elastic impact-absorbing corner element (10) is arranged between the corner protection element (8) and the container corner (2). The corner protection element (8) is fixed to the container corner (2) in such a way that it is separable from the container (4), thereby elastically absorbing impacts by means of the intermediate elastic corner element (10).
