PURPOSE: A system and a method for settling a charged broadcasting fare through telemetering and user certification using a smart card are provided to settle the charged broadcasting fare by using a prepayment or post payment typed smart card without a separate connecting procedure to a fare settlement server before viewing of a charged program. CONSTITUTION: A smart card interface(30) is inserted by the smart card. A CAS(Conditional Access System)(201) settles the fare of the charged broadcasting after confirming certification with the smart card and stores fare settlement information to the smart card. A modem(40) transmits the fare settlement information to a CP(Contents Provider)(601). A set-top box(101) inquires that a user views the charged broadcasting, and controls the smart card interface, the CAS, and the modem. |
