PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning soil and ground water polluted with an organochlorine compound, not having fear such that heavy metals or another soil components other than a purifying target are eluted, unnecessary for adding alkali used for preventing the lowering of pH and capable of suppressing a treatment cost low. SOLUTION: An iron powder is added to or mixed with soil or ground water polluted with the organochlorine compound to clean the polluted soil or ground water by the reductive decomposition of the organochlorine compound.
