PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact differential gear with simple structure by securing certain engagement. SOLUTION: This differential gear device is formed of a pair of output shafts 19 and 20 integrally connected to a pair of output members 4 and 5 in the rotating direction in the condition that one output member 4 of the pair of out put members includes a first part 6 and a second part 7 connected to each other integrally in the rotating direction to relatively move in the axial direction, a clutch part 9 provided between the other output member 5 and the second part 7 of the output member 4 to connect them to each other, and an actuator 22 for operating the second part 7 of the output member 4 in the axial direction. Even in the case where the thrust meshing reaction force can be obtained in a meshing part of the first output shaft member 6, the only second output shaft member 7 can be turned, while leaving the meshing part of the first output shaft member 6 as it is, to reduce a burden of a differential lock part between the pair of output members. It is unnecessary to arrange the differential lock part and an operation part by the actuator in the same diameter part, and bulk in the axial direction can be made compact.
