PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly suppress vibrating voltage contained in DC output voltage at the starting or sudden load change and suppress power consumption in a DC power supply unit as a whole, by suppressing power loss with an output voltage detection means. SOLUTION: This DC power supply unit includes an overvoltage protection circuit (17) which connects a buffer circuit (31), with the input impedance higher than the output impedance between an output voltage detection circuit (22) and an error detection circuit (15) and restricts rises in a DC output voltage (Eo) of a boosting chopper circuit (21), when the transient vibrating voltage contained in the DC output voltage (Eo) of a boosting chopper circuit (21) exceeds a prescribed voltage (V<SB>R2</SB>), at the starting or load sudden change. At the starting or load sudden change, the overvoltage protection circuit (17) suppresses the transient vibrating voltage, and at a stationary state, the error detection circuit (15) controls the DC output voltage (Eo) of a DC-DC conversion circuit (21).
