PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printing device which is improved in sheet feeding precision and downsized. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the tape printing device, upon driving of a first driving motor 24, a paper discharge roller unit 37, a platen roller 21, a grip roller 22, and a core 11A of a roll sheet unit 11 which cooperatively constitute a carriage mechanism 15, are driven for rotation via a first gear row 25, and a roll sheet 10 is discharged or rewound. Further upon driving of a second driving motor 30, pressing of a thermal head 27 to the platen roller 21 or separation of the former from the latter is carried out via a second gear train 28 constituting an image forming mechanism 17, and then cutting of the roll sheet 10 is carried out by a cutting mechanism 16.
