PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load of a CPU in a system frequently using serial communication like a car navigation system. SOLUTION: A control method for serial communication is noticed, and a DMA controller 12 is used for data reception in serial communication, and a function of preliminarily setting the number of times of transfer of the DMA controller 12 for reception to a number larger than the number of data in one reception and generating a time-out interruption in the case of reception of no data for a certain time is added to a serial interface 11, so that serial communication is controlled/executed without loading the CPU 13.
