PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a can inspection device capable of surely discriminating whether the flange of each can is nondefective regardless of the form of defects, and capable of surely removing cans having defective flanges from a production line. SOLUTION: The can inspection device 6 is a device for inspecting cans 1 each of which is in the shape of a closed-end cylinder and has a flange in its opening. The device is provided with rotary tables 211a each of which holds the can 1 in such a way as to be rotatable around the axis of the can; a first detection means 215 which is arranged above the opening of the can 1, radiates light downwards, detects the existence of its return light from the flange section, and detects the outer diameter of the flange section; and a controller 216 having a determination section for determining whether or not the can 1 conforms on the basis of a detection result by the detecting means 215.
