Method for preparing an orally administrable formulation for controlled release

The present invention provides a method for preparing an orally administrable formulation comprising a biologically active ingredient for the controlled release in a neutral or basic environment, which method comprises the steps of: (a) dispersing powder ethylcellulose with an average diameter of from about 0.1 mum to about 300 mum in an aqueous dispersion to provide an enteric encapsulant; (b) mixing the biologically active ingredient and the enteric encapsulant obtained in step (a) to obtain a mixture; and (c) spray-drying the mixture obtained in step (b) for about 10 sec. to 15 sec. in a drying chamber at a chamber temperature of about 45° C. to about 80° C. to obtain an orally administrable formulation. The orally administrative formulation prepared by the method of the invention is also provided.
