<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply structured image forming apparatus for making a user easily clean an intermediate transfer belt without providing any cleaning member. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus equipped with an intermediate transfer belt having at least two markings, for controlling the writing start position of an image by detecting markings on an intermediate transfer belt is provided with a means for detecting markings, a measuring means for measuring the detection waveforms of the markings, a comparing means for comparing the waveforms of markings in a normal time with the measured waveforms, a detecting means for detecting any abnormality from the result of the comparing means and a moving means for moving the position of the intermediate transfer belt whose abnormality is detected by the detecting means to a predetermined position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
