PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of properly reproducing and displaying a shape corresponding to the shadow of a light shield body on a display while the constitution is simple. SOLUTION: The display device is equipped with a plurality of units each comprising a photodetection sensor which has a photodetection surface, a light emitting diode provided nearby the photodetection surface, and a driving circuit which drives the light emitting diodes according to the output of the photodetection sensor to emit light, and constituted by arraying many photodetection surfaces and light emitting diodes of the units on a two-dimensional plane and making the light emitting diodes of the respective units illuminate while external light made incident on the photodetection sensors are cut off. Further, the display device is equipped with a smoothing means for making smooth output from the photodetection sensors and ON and/of OFF timing of the light emitting diodes.
