PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crankshaft having plastic deformability though surface hardening is applied thereto to provide sufficient strength. SOLUTION: In the crankshaft the surface of which is hardened, the degree of hardening of the surface of one journal 12 of a plurality of journals 11 and 12 is further reduced in comparison with the degree of hardening of the surface of the other journal 11.
