PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cultured cell observation apparatus with which cultured cells are observed while culturing the cells without moving a culture apparatus. SOLUTION: This cultured cell observation apparatus has a constitution that a probe unit 3 composed of optical scanning probes 3A and 3B has its rear end attached through a positioning retention means 4 to an XY scanning stage 5 composed of an X-axis scanning apparatus 52 for scanning in the X-axis direction and a Y-axis scanning apparatus 52B for scanning in the Y-axis direction and the whole optical scanning probes 3A and 3B, namely, the probe unit 3 is moved (scanned) in the X direction and the Y direction.
