POSITIONING SYSTEM AND POSITIONING METHOD IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

There is provided a positioning system capable of generating an appropriate response in accordance with the positioning accuracy class requested from a client device. The client device (101) specifies a positioning accuracy requested and the request class when transmitting a positioning request of a mobile device (103) to a server device (102). The server device (102) checks the positioning accuracy requested by the client device (101) and responds the positioning result if a positioning result satisfying the requested accuracy is present. If no positioning result satisfying the requested accuracy is present, the server device (102) checks the requested class of accuracy. When the class is the second class ("Best Effort"), the positioning result of the highest accuracy is selected and responded to the client device (101). When the class is the first class ("Assured"), an error is notified.
