PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the image quality of an image with only objective evaluation by making an objective evaluation value correspond to subjective evaluation value. SOLUTION: A method for determining the image quality of reproduced images obtained by reproducing a common original image through different means includes a step (S103) of generating a reference space, a step (S104) of taking the correlation between objective evaluation and subjective evaluation, and a step (S106) of discriminating whether a reproduced image being a discrimination object is good or not. In the step S103, physical property values in a plurality of items about image quality are acquired with respect to a reference image of which the image quality is judged to be good by subjective evaluation (S201) and are normalized to generate the reference space (S205). In the step S104, a Mahalanobis distance of the reference image is obtained (S301), and a threshold of a Mahalanobis distance corresponding to subjective evaluation is obtained (S303). In the step S106, physical property values of the reproduced image being the discrimination object are acquired (S401) and are normalized to obtain a Mahalanobis distance (S404), and the Mahalanobis distance is compared with the threshold to discriminate whether the reproduced image is good or not (S405).
