PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relatively inexpensive side member while ensuring the required strength. SOLUTION: The truck side member is formed by rolling a frame 16 comprising an outer wall 16a, an upper flange 16b and a lower flange 16c, the height of the outer wall 16a of the frame is gradually reduced toward a front end of the frame, and the upper flange 16b and a part of the outer wall16a are cut by a predetermined length from the front end of the frame 16 so that an upper edge of the outer wall 16a is tilted forward. In addition, in the side member, an auxiliary frame 17 includes an auxiliary plate 17a having a shape corresponding to the outer wall 16 of the cut part, an upper flange 17b and a lower flange 17c. The auxiliary plate 17a is fixed to the outer wall 16a of a second frame 12b, the lower flange 17c is fixed to the lower flange 16c of the second frame 12b, and the auxiliary frame 17 is fixed to an inner side of the frame 16 so that a rear end of the upper flange 17b is continuous to the front end of the remaining upper flange 16b of the frame 16.
