PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sorting method reducing the influence of the sorting order on ranking of a sorted object by subsequently analyzing a probability distribution while executing sorting operation, in consideration that sorting of a characteristic having a provability distribution and retention of quantitative ratio by sectioning the distribution are incompatible with each other, when received objects to be sorted are sorted into a plurality of groups having a similar characteristic value as much as possible to attain a target value of a quantitative ratio, and provide a device. SOLUTION: Open loop control for determining a threshold value corresponding to the target value based on the analysis of the probability distribution of the characteristic value obtained for sorting is carried out and close loop control is also used, if necessary, corresponding to an error of sorting. Various methods for not making the error larger, utilization of a presumption value for making turbulence of the ranking of the sorted object less, division of the object, proportionality and change of the sorting order are indicated.
