PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate selection of characters, a single point pattern or a continuous pattern in a sewing machine with fewer switches. SOLUTION: Each of switch arrangements for switches for characters including hiragana characters, katakana characters, English characters and numerical symbols, for switches for the single pattern such as the single point pattern and for switches for the continuous pattern is made to be the same and disposed adjacent to each other. Selecting the same switch in plural times allows another relating pattern to be selected.
