The bearing shell (1) has one or more semi-cylindrical projecting holder studs (20) located in the area of the joint. Each stud has a first support face (21) to fix the shell in a first peripheral direction. A second support face (24) extending in radial direction, and parallel to the first one, is for fixing the shell in a peripheral direction. The second face is part of the curved jacket surface (26) of the holder stud. The stud is of even thickness over its complete length. During manufacture, the bearing shell wall is pressed into a mold with a base, by a die, to form a second support face. Base wall and a tangent of the contact face for the shell enclose an angle of between 85 and 95[deg].
