<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic image pickup unit capable of creating a control file for efficiently reproducing an image file to be reproduced. <P>SOLUTION: Image files recorded on a recording medium are reproduced, image frames corresponding to the image files are generated and displayed on a display means, and one desired image frame is selected. After the desired one image frame is selected, the control file is then created for managing the reproduction of the image file corresponding to the selected one image frame.
