<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a humidifier that is light in weight and compact, and can humidify efficiently with little noise. <P>SOLUTION: This humidifier includes a water tank 6, a water tank 3 for water supply for supplying a certain amount of water to the tank 6, an intake port 10 for taking in dry air of the room, a blow out port 8 for sending humid air to the room, a blower 9 placed in an air passage for communicating the ports 10 and 8 to each other, a vaporizing filter 7 made of a sheet-like material 7D having a small hole 7A and good water-absorbing property being pleated, with a lower end portion being soaked in water in the tank 6, and a filter case 11 having horizontally and vertically flat plates in parallel with an opening in the air passage direction. This humidifier passes dry air in the room that has been taken in from an intake port 10 by a blower 9 to the filter 7 contained in the case 11 that is wet by water of the tank 6 and blows it out from the port 8.
