<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for a vehicle capable of effectively protecting an occupant by realizing both rapid airbag deployment in case of a side collision and reduction of damage to an OOP (out of position) occupant at the moment of the airbag deployment, efficiently and precisely discharging the gas in the deployed airbag, and having a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The airbag device 11 is equipped with the airbag 12 to be deployed in the range from around shoulders to around breast and around belly of the occupant P sitting in a seat cushion 9 in a normal state. The airbag 12 includes a section for protecting around the shoulders of the occupant P and a section for protecting around the breast of the occupant P which are respectively different in airbag deployment width, and the section 120 for protecting around the breast of the occupant P is provided with a sewn part 15 for reducing deployment toward body width direction when the airbag is deployed. The sewn part 15 is formed by a ring shape member 16 intervened in between both side surfaces 12a, 12b of the airbag 12.
