PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain good image quality without the trouble of conditioning the elements of iron oxide used as a colorant in an electrostatic latent image developer used in an image forming apparatus in which an electrostatic latent image is developed to form an image on a recording medium. SOLUTION: A toner (electrostatic latent image developer) is manufactured using iron oxide particles surface-modified in such a way as to make an angle of contact with water >90°and a coverage of particle surfaces with a silane coupling agent 25-80%. When this toner is dissolved in hydrochloric acid, percentage (inclusion rate) of iron oxide particles which do not dissolve owing to conditions such as lying in the toner is≥25 wt.%. By image formation using this toner, a high-grade image with little fog can be formed without conditioning the elements of iron oxide. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
