PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a high-pressure discharge lamp equipped with an electrode having a coil wound with an optimum number of turns. SOLUTION: A wire is directly wound around an electrode shaft 120 to form the coil in the circumference of the electrode shaft. A slit-like laser beam LB1 (LB2) cross-sectionally having a length equivalent to the outside diameter of the coil is emitted to the electrode shaft with the coil formed to cut the electrode shaft and the coil, and the electrode shaft and the coil are partially melted to joint both of them to each other.
