PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle playback device capable of playing desired music data by an easy operation. SOLUTION: When a CPU discriminates classification data as being MP3, and that a right key has been depressed is discriminated, the CPU updates a playback file number in a playback management table in accordance with the pushed right key (step S27). When it is discriminated that a top key has been depressed, the CPU reads out a PVD, changes a current folder as the reference from a current folder to the subsequent or the previous folder, and searches each file in the category of the changed current folder (step S29); then updates a music table in accordance with the search results (step S30). When it is discriminated that a decision key has been depressed, the CPU plays music data in a music table indicated by the playback file number in the playback management table (step S32).
