PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorber which is made of thermoplastic fibers and has a very small nap on the fiber and a very small scatter of the fiber to exert small influence on a worker and environment, and further a sound absorber which less deteriorates in performance even when getting wet. SOLUTION: The sound absorber is made of thermoplastic fibers and is such that slices of 10 mm of the sound absorber parallel to the surface all have≥2.5N/50 mm internal fiber coupling strength. Thus, the sound absorber has high internal fiber coupling strength, so fiber scatter during use is small and fiber scatter from a cut surface is small even when the sound absorber is cut.
