PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semi-sealed compressor capable of making compression to a higher pressure than conventional, embodied in a simple structure, and assuring excellent durability and a high reliability. SOLUTION: The semi-sealed compressor 1 of multistage compression type is structured so that a gas compressed by a lower stage cylinder 5 is sent to an upper stage cylinder 6 through a pipe 40 to be compressed further to generate a high pressure, wherein the diameter of the upper stage cylinder 6 is formed greater than the diameter of the lower stage cylinder 5 so as to reduce the shaft load, and the capacity efficiency is enhanced by cooling the gas compressed by the lower stage cylinder 5 when it passes through the pipe 40.
