PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throw away type cutting tool for grooving that is excellent in chip disposing property during the grooving, and is economical without requiring component replacement for a long time. SOLUTION: The throw away type cutting tool for grooving is formed by removably mounting a throw away tip 2 at the tip of a tool holder 1. The throw away tip 2 is mounted onto a support seat formed at the tip of the tool holder 1 by pressing the upper surface 3 of the throw away tip 2 with a clamp member 4. The tip side wall surface 5 of the clamp member 4 is recessed near the width-directional center in the direction away from a cutting edge 10. The cutting tool has a space region 7 surrounded by the tip side wall surface 5, the tip upper surface 3 after a rake face 8, and a holder upper surface 6 connected to the tip upper surface 3.
