METHOD FOR ADHESIVELY COATING A SUBSTRATE WITH A METAL LAYER

The invention relates to a method for adhesivesly coating a substrate in order to give a metallic appearance thereto. A plastic substrate or a priming protective coating on any particular substrate is subjected to scorching, plasma, corona, fluorination treatments and/or a rinsing effect, is subsequently treated with a sensitizier and then coated with a metal layer (preferably a silver layer) in a reducing wet method. A protective varnish is applied as a protective coating. The method can also comprise a tempering step which takes place before the scorching and/or rinsing treatment and application of an inorganic bonding agent occurs after application of the metal layer. The thus treated substrate exhibits perfect adhesion between the metal layer and the substrate or priming protective layer.
