<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elucidate a molecular biological mechanism for the differentiation of a lateral bud into a stem to develop a technique for uniformly, stably and safely controlling the lateral branch formation of a plant, and to develop a technique by which an adventitious bud can generally, stably, uniformly and easily be induced from a cultured cell. <P>SOLUTION: A DNA containing a specific nucleotide sequence, a protein containing a specific amino acid sequence, a recombinant DNA structure containing the DNA, and a plant cell, tissue, organ, plant or its posterity transformed with the same are provided. A method for increasing or decreasing the lateral bud formation of a plant comprises increasing or decreasing the expression level of the DNA.
