PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a liquid crystal screen clearly visible in either of two opposing oblique directions. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display device comprising a light guide plate 4, with a backlight mounted on one of its side end faces, disposed on the rear surface of a liquid crystal display panel 2, the liquid crystal display device is constructed by disposing a dimmer film 8, on one surface of which a number of protruded lines 9 are engraved in parallel to one another with a cross-sectional shape perpendicular to the protruded lines 9 having a wave shape 10 consisting of a continuous curve or a wave shape 11 consisting of a continuously disposed triangles, on the front surface of the liquid crystal display panel 2 so as to place the one surface opposite to the front surface.
