<p>A material for liquid crystal alignment layers which comprises an organic solvent, a soluble polyimide, and a polyamic acid, characterized in that the soluble polyimide is one produced by reacting a diamine component containing a compound represented by the general formula (1) with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride: (1) [wherein R<1> and R<2> are each alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms or alkoxy; and m and n are each an integer of 0 to 4]. The material for liquid crystal alignment layers little causes aggregation or precipitation due to moisture absorption.</p> |
