PURPOSE: A volume control device automatically tuned by the speed of a vehicle and an operating method thereof are provided to meet the convenience of a driver by automatically controlling the volume of an audio unit according to the speed of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A volume control device for a vehicle is composed of a wheel speed sensor(100) for detecting the speed of the vehicle, an audio unit(200) having a speaker(S), a mode setting button(300), and a micro computer(400) connected to the mode setting button. The wheel speed sensor has a speed pulse generating module(110) for receiving a wheel speed value and generating a speed pulse. The mode setting button is formed at one side of the audio unit, and sets an automatic volume controlling mode. The micro computer automatically controls the volume of the audio unit according to the speed of the vehicle. The micro computer includes a counter(410) for counting speed pulses generated by the speed pulse generating module, a comparator(420) for comparing the counted speed pulses with a speed level value, and a volume control unit(430) for controlling the volume of the audio unit.
