PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for driving an electroluminescent display device are provided to reduce the power consumption by reducing the number of charging and discharging of the parasitic capacitance. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for driving an electroluminescent display device includes a control unit(1), a data driving unit(2), a scan driving unit(3), an organic electroluminescent display device(4) and a data analyzing unit(5). The data analyzing unit(5) compares the data patterns of each line. And, the scan driving unit(3) non-sequentially selects the scan lines in response to the comparison result of the data patterns.
