The device has a cylinder (12) with a burnt gas exhaust manifold (28) with exhaust valves (32). The exhaust gas is evacuated by the manifold and directed towards a catalyst (40) by a conduit (50) during cold functioning period of an internal combustion engine. The gas circulating in the conduit is filtered by an adsorption filter (52). Adsorption of the pollutants in the filter is done after the cold functioning period. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling pollution of an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine.
