The invention relates to the ferrous metallurgy. A method for protection against blast furnace main trough lining wear includes supplying the hot melt by trough and maintaining the reduced temperature of the trough casing. The trough lining is protected against wear by increase of skull on the surface of lining, and skull is grown by maintaining reduced temperature of casing in the area of washing out lining of trough with hot melt, at that the thickness the skull layer being grown is regulated by change of casing cooling zones and consumption of cooling agent. The invention provides the blast furnace main trough resistance increase with the increase in its life time.
