The proposed device for determining the reduced length of a workpiece contains a base member with a support, a unit for generating vibrations of the workpiece, and a pendulum reference element. The unit for generating vibrations contains the workpiece holder, which is fitted to a shaft that is installed at the support with the possibility to rotate. The pendulum reference element is designed as a weight suspended on a wire. The wire is fixed to the support and passes trough a ring that can be displaced in a vertical direction by a unit for adjusting the working length of the wire. The adjusting unit contains a dial.
