Dual-coated cubic-boron-nitride and polycrystalline-cubic-boron-nitride cutting tools (inserts) which exhibit increased durability and performance charactersitics when employed in hard turning processes. In addition, herein are disclosed methods of employing such cutting tools which are capable of producing work pieces with exceptional surface characteristics within tight size tolerances and with increased production efficiency.
