The iron has a steam generator with a water pump (26). The water pump is connected to an external water tank (22) by a conduit (24) for introducing cold water under pressure into a vaporization chamber (16) by a water supply tube (20). The vaporization chamber is heated by a heating unit at a temperature of 120 to 130 degree Celsius to transform the water into steam.
