<p>A self-erecting rig (100) is adapted for deployment on a platform (10) and includes hydraulic jacks (400) and rails (300). The rig structure (100) is made up of stacked, interlocking modules (200) having open areas pre-fitted with well equipment such as mud pumps, mud tanks, and power packs. The rails (300) are disposed on a platform (10) and guide the modules (200) to the hydraulic jacks (400). Hydraulic jacks (400) also fixed onto the platform (10), are configured to releasably engage and elevate the modules (200). During deployment, the jacks (400) engage a module (200) and hoist it to a pre-determined height. While the engaged module is suspended, another module is slid immediately below. After the two modules interlock, the jacks (400) repeat the process.</p> |
